wipe/prime tower extrusion amount
When using a triple nozzle setup I notice that the amount of extrusion on the wipe/prime tower is way too excessive. I'd guess that the tower routine is written and tested with dual extrusion only and not taking into account the actual number of extruders while calculating the tower size/layer height/extrusion multiplier/whatever
Known problem. The wipe/prime tower is printed at full extrusion for every extruder. With dual extrusion this is "ok" as you get some over extrusion, but the printers handle this quite fine and it makes the wipe tower strong. With more then 2 extruders this won't really work and you run into problems.
Currently there is no solution. And a solution will be made when the switch to the pinkunicorn branch will be made.
[Slightly offtopic] Got any idea about when this switch is going to happen approx.?
Hello, Recently I met a similar issue, using only two extruders, for a print which needed support.
Usually, when I make a dual extrusion print, everything goes fine. The head prints a layer on the object, moves to the tower to print a layer at the same level. Then the head prints a new layer on the tower, before going back to the object, and print a new layer at the same level as the last tower's layer. Everything works fine.
But, adding support to my print, created a third layer on the tower, as if I had a third extruder. Very quickly, the tower was taken down because the nozzle banged against instead of printing on it.
What I want to print is a bearing with balls in a different color than rings. Balls need support because they are raised slightly above the bed. In Cura, in « Support dual extrusion » I selected the extruder dedicated to the rings to print support so matter won't blend.
Please, I really need your help to understand what's going on, and what can I do to be able to print with two different colours and support.
Thank you very much
