Yeah you need a single agent on every machine at the end of the day.

Consider integrating with nomad from hashicorp. It works with consul. It's a growing base

It's very pluggable and getting lots of support. It's also very easy to use on you laptop or a cluster of 1,000 servers.

I will try. You need the discovery server to be many, so there is no spof. So just put an agent on every server that is a discovery server, and let then elect a leader.

Did you checkout nomad from hashicorp ?

AFAIK nomad is a cluster scheduler, this project is not design to run in a cluster, is design to be simple, you can try it if you are curious about it.
