When you say "how does one get at this information" do you mean "how does one measure it?" or "how does one operate on it / interact with it"?

I think this is where the essay went from super-readable to somewhat murky (which adding technical details will do, but the extent surprised me).

Thanks. I definitely agree it takes a turn at that point. My next major rewrite I definitely will try to clean this up.
