Custom background color in fullscreen

1️⃣ Describe the feature

Allow using a different background color when the viewer is in fullscreen, possibly expanding to the toolbar. This is very useful on OLED displays, which are becoming more common in laptops. It could also just be a checkbox labeled: "Use black background in fullscreen", but more customization is always better!

Also, thank you so much for developing and maintaining this. It's only become more useful and valuable as Microsoft's built-in photo viewer becomes more cluttered, slow, and bloated. 😊

2️⃣ How to use feature

  • In the appearance settings, there's simply another color swatch labeled "Fullscreen background color", that only affects the fullscreen mode. Here's an example of how it could be used:
  • The traditional gray-ish transparent Mica color is used when the viewer is in a normal window.
  • When the viewer enters fullscreen, the unused area around the image turns pitch black, which looks much better on OLED panels.

Just thought I'd add that displaying a black background when in fullscreen is the default behavior of the Windows 11 photos app, only realized that now.
