ImageGlass 8.5.1.22 not start anymore
I just updated ImageGlass to the very last one 8.5.1.22 and now the app is not starting anymore (when i double click on a icon I can see the imageglass.exe appearing in the task manager but it's disappear suddenly)
It sounds like config file's problem.
Can you open %AppData%\ImageGlass folder, and delete igconfig.xml file?
Hello, even deleting igconfig.xml do not help. Note also that on my machine ImageGlass is installed in C:\Program Files\ImageGlass\ not in %AppData%\ImageGlass
This sort of behavior usually means a dependency is missing, or ImageGlass is crashing early on.
On the off-chance you upgraded from a much earlier version of ImageGlass, you want to insure that you have the correct .NET framework installed, and the latest Visual C Runtime (64-bit) or (32-bit).
Does ImageGlass start if executed from the Start Menu (i.e. not by double-clicking an image)?
I upgraded from the previous version of ImageGlass (updated 2 months ago).
Does ImageGlass start if executed from the Start Menu no, well ImageGlass start (I can see the exe in the taskmanager) but close immediately after and show nothing.
the only think is that I installed imageGlass in :\Program Files\ImageGlass\

Is it possible the upgrade has installed the 64-bit version of ImageGlass on a 32-bit system? Could you tell us what version and bit-ness of Windows you are running?
Does ImageGlass start if executed from the Start Menu no, well ImageGlass start (I can see the exe in the taskmanager) but close
I asked that to see if it was a problem with file associations etc. The Windows Event log shows that it is not the case.
the only think is that I installed imageGlass in :\Program Files\ImageGlass\
If you want to sanity check that, you can download the portable version, extract it someplace, and try to run it. At this point, I'm pretty certain the portable version won't run either, no matter where it is placed.

I'd start by (re)?-installing the .NET Framework 4.8 using the link I posted in my first reply. Or repair your .NET installation using the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool.

I m on windows 10 64 bit. I ran the installer x64 (24.6 MB)

No it's didn't help :( also .net framework was updated to the very last one offered by Microsoft via windows update.

OK, that is concerning.
I did a clean install of IG 8.5.1.22 on Win10-20H2 into C:\Program Files\ImageGlass. I also got a copy of the portable version. Both run with no issues. Using Explorer properties, I see no difference in size between any files in the two versions.
Between this and since a .NET update made no difference, I'm now thinking the upgrade process might have left you with a mix of 8.5.1.22 and older files. If so, it could also explain the error message in Windows Event.
The Imageglass Portable copy may actually run for you.
My next suggested steps would be to either: a) un-install IG 8.5.1.22; make sure the ImageGlass folder is destroyed; and do a clean install b) use the portable version
yes if I replace the content of the directory C:\Program Files\ImageGlass with the one located in ImageGlass_8.5.1.22_x64.zip (portable version) then it's work well! so it's look like the setup didn't update all dll/file in the directory keeping a mix of new and old files :(
