Is this even possible... to issue pause/play/seek commands... maybe even get the current playhead?

It's theoretically possible according to the AirPlay specification (http://nto.github.io/AirPlay.html). You can change volume and scrub videos by sending HTTP requests to AppleTV.

But given the changes in YT API (have a look at my comment here https://github.com/czekaj/ChromePlay/issues/1) I'm not implementing any new features in ChromePlay for now.
