Chrome not saving settings

Open philiprhoades opened this issue 3 months ago • 3 comments

People,

Some time ago the TabFern window for Chrome started losing its appearance every time Chrome was closed down eg I use the light background all the time - but for some months I have had to restore a saved environment from the "Settings and offline help" menu option and restore a saved enviroment ie a light environment. I updated from Fedora 42 to Fedora 43 in the last couple of days and now the "Settings and offline help" and "Backup now" options don't work . .

Since the last backup is not quite up to date, I would prefer to find a fix for this problem rather than go the uninstall and reinstall route . .

BTW, Chrome TF is the lighter use case and Brave TF the heavier so it is weird that Chrome has had the problems . .

Thanks,

Phil.

It sounds like TabFern on Chrome isn't saving your settings? Is it saving your tabs?

What Chrome/Chromium version?

Is Chrome installed via RPM or Flatpak?

No - that is the more recent problem.

What Chrome/Chromium version?

Version 140.0.7339.207 (Official Build) (64-bit) Relaunch

Is Chrome installed via RPM or Flatpak?

RPM - but I think I misled you - the Light / Dark theme has only ever been a Chrome problem but the backup problem is on both Chrome and Brave so I think it is an updated Wayland problem maybe?

More info:

The specific problem common to both Chrome and Brave is that when I try to do a backup ie click on "Backup Now" - nothing happens - from other problems that have occurred since the system update it seems that the system file manager (Nautilus?) is not working - so I am unable to choose the directory to where I save my TF backups - although Nautilus starts from the CLI OK . .

Is there another way I can cause the backup to be done? - via JS or something?

Thanks.
