Programmatically add a catalog item to room ?

I've had a look over the documentation and can see how to create catalog items, elements etc I cannot see any examples of how I could programmatically place an item in a room. Are there any existing methods I can call ?

To help explain with a use case. An opening questionnaire capturing information which could then be used to populate a room with all required catalog items.

Wondering if this is something I could achieve with React Planner ?
