All Entities become not available when enabling Integration on Remote Node
Hi all, I have been running remote_homeassistant for the past year or so. It been a brilliant solution for controlling my "Company HA" from the "Home HA" in one place.
While accessing my Home HA this week I noticed that the dashboard controlling the "Company HA" was unavailable and what i mean by this is that all the entities become unavailable on the dashboard. I have experienced this a handful of times in the past and usually a reboot of both sites will resolve the matter but on this occasion no such luck.
The Home Assistant version on both sites currently run on 2025.02.3 so the last update was roughly a month ago and as mentioned all has been fine up until this week. I have not delved into trying to check any logs or anything yet but I did notice that if the "Home HA" side of the remote_homeassistant integration gets enabled then all the entities for "Company HA" becomes unavailable on both instances.

I have attached a short video to demonstrate what happens on the "Company HA" as soon as the integration gets enabled again on the "Home HA" side. Any of you perhaps experience this yourselves ?
is there a way to fix this on our own.. i also have the same issue figured maybe i need to do the SSL or one of those optional settings i thought i had alot of unavliable.. but when i unlink the remote they disappear.. and when i re add the remote i get a wack load of unavaliables but when you goto the remote home assistant none of them are unavaliable.. and its mostly sensors doesnt seem to affect switchs though least i havent seen.. i figured maybe its a port issue
I managed to resolve the issue this morning. First I updated HA to 2025.4.1 and then proceeded to delete the Remote Home-Assistant on both sites(including deleting the entry you have to make in the configuration.yaml). Restarted both HA sites and once it was back online headed to the entities summary and there were a ton of orphaned entities when filtered to "Remote Home-Assistant" which was also selected and deleted. Once done AGAIN restarted both as a precaution and when the sites were back online i proceeded to install the integration again. During the Remote Home-Assistant config I limited it to include 'Switches' as the 'domain' to check if it works properly first and this seemed to do the trick. Hopefully that is of help to you.

Have same problems since 2025.3 / 4
Reset was enough in 2025.3 but now after resetting master/slave - still no success- worked for more then >2 years flawless till know? Please can you take a look if this issue can be solved?
@postlund @jaym25 @lukas-hetzenecker hi since you guys the writters i not sure if its ok to tag ya but we finding issues with the remote connection sensors, binary sensors,, toggle switchs, Press buttons of the remote assistants are showing up unavaliable yet they are avaliable on the remote side.. so important sensors arent working.. some work some dont.. i not sure if you guys see the messages but hope was ok to tag you guys since your names are on the remote homesstant Hacs page of authors... if not ok sorry in advance.. but figured id try if there is a temp fix to help us be great to know any work arounds if it cant be fixed
anyone know of any word of updates? the 3 programmers never commented.. from april when i tagged them.. has anyone found a work around? as i cant update all my home assistants from my main home assistant either i gotta log into each one where i could before just update and it would update all of them same time
I stumbled onto this very issue. I'll try to explain in detail. My original Home Assistant for my house is "HomeAssistant" I needed another one for a separate part of my property about 180 feet away. Extenders don't work. I have internet there. So I set up another Home Assistant called "SecondAssistant".

I installed by HACS I followed the instructions. As soon an I enter the IP address and token of "HomeAssistant" (my primary) on SecondaryAssistant on the Remote Home Assistant integration I lose just about everything on HomeAssistant. It literally breaks everything!

What is going on??? As soon as I delete "HomeAssistant" from Remote everything comes back. So clearly something isn't working properly.
What are my alternatives?
@binary100100 there doesnt seem to be a fix and the programmers havent commented.. so i dont know if the remote homeassistant is a dead intergration or what .. i left them a tag but they never responded so not sure if they care or if its not a priority or what not

So I'm definitely not alone with this issue. I guess that's good. I still need a solution though. Is there a way to connect zwave to a remote location of my house using wifi or Ethernet? I saw something called SMLIGHT SLZB-MR2 which is a ZIGBEE 3.0 to ethernet. Anything like that for zwave?
For statistical purposes: I'm experiencing the same issues with Home Assistant remote control. As soon as I activate remote control, all ZigBee2MQTT components on the remote site become unavailable. If I deactivate Home Assistant remote control on the remote control site, everything works perfectly.
Same issue here — the “remote” entities go unavailable for about 10–20 seconds and then return for a random period of time. Since this entity is also used for historical data, I’m missing data points. That’s why I’m switching from REMOTE to MQTT, which might be a good solution if you don’t have too many entities.
@binary100100 @MichaelLinki @JackoAmmerlaan the problem been at least a year i found issues it failing in Dec 2024 and i just got worse and worse later on...
but i not sure if anyone looking at it.. unless we make a better complaint.. as i tagged the 3 programmers.. yet none of them replied so not sure if they dead, dont care, too busy,, not high priority or what not..
as for the Zigbee i dont know i guess you can use like remote raspberry pis Zibees or something i use just wifi devices so i have no experience in any of that..
@MichaelLinki @JackoAmmerlaan We need to get it removed from hacs since it's no longer being supported. The developers clearly abandoned it while still accepting donations for a broken repository. How do we request removal?
i use it best i can... i least able to use more of the toggle switchs some have not worked.. and update remote HA doesnt always work..
ive also found sometimes a sensor works and sometimes unavaliable.. it is screwly lewly.
