Cast not working

I get the dreaded red error "Custom element doesn't exist: button-card / type: 'custom:button-card' when casting to Google Nest Hub. Installed via HACS and located in /hacsfiles/button-card/button-card.js. Cast launched via script. Can anyone help on this issue?

I've been randomly getting this issue on a Lovelace view for months. The view itself has not changed in over six months. Sometimes its fine for days, and then randomly, it stops working and I get the 'custom element doesn't exist'.

This component was installed via HACS. However, I've read that casting doesn't like the gzipd files it serves, so I've replaced the HACS entry in Resources for one that links to /local/. No matter if I have both or one in there, it works inconsistently - which makes absolutely zero sense to me. I have been unable to nail down the seemingly randomness of it.
