Feedback on dataviz course

Hi Curran,

Just wanted to thank you for setting up a great course with one of the best D3 introductions I've seen. I'm a teacher myself, teaching a course on D3 and I was looking into similar courses. After working through the first 5 weeks I'm impressed with how you manage D3's tough learning curve. I love how each video tackles one bigger element of D3 and offers a look into smaller features along the way. Because of the nice pace and clear examples (and links to working code examples), I will use this course as a backup for students who are struggling to keep up.

My initial plan was to write my own examples in Observable, but there's too much magic under the hood there for beginners in my opinion. While vizhub is still limited in its functionality it is a very clean way to do live WYSIWYG coding, so I think I'll use your platform instead.

So thanks again for all the hard work. I hope you keep making new learning content because it's the best I've seen around :)

@Razpudding Awesome! Thank you for letting me know.

I'm actively developing VizHub 2.0, which should be ready to use (Beta version) by the end of August. I'm going to use it for this year's version of the course, which runs from late August thru October. I'm planning on creating a whole new set of videos, this time using React and D3 together. The plan is to refine the software based on student feedback during the course, and release the public 2.0 version in Q1 2020, along with all the new videos.

I'm curious, what is the timing for your course? I'd be happy to set up you and your students with access to the beta version of VizHub 2.0. If you're interested, please email me at [email protected] and let's continue the discussion in private. Thanks!
