latest formal release a year and a half ago. what does this mean?

hi guys; I have used this library for a long time now. there has not been a formal release for a while now. is this because its so stable? or did dev stopped? thanks,

456 issues 91 pull requests @cubiq hasn't been active on GitHub since May

Think it's pretty safe to assume dev has stopped, which is a huge shame considering its popularity.
