Option: turn off audio notifications (or at least tell them how to mute a browser tab, ha)

Ah, so deprecate the audio entirely for the time being?

No not deprecate, just add something to Settings that lets users disable audio if they want to.

I see that this issue has been closed. So, can one disable the bleeps now? When, in the public instance, I click the cog, the only thing I can do is change my username.

Hi there! This issue is still open (the duplicate was closed). For now, on desktop browsers you can press ctrl+m to mute, or right click on a tab then click Mute Tab.

But adding something to settings would be good, you're right.

'This issue is still open (the duplicate was closed).' Sorry - my mistake. (I am frazzled from trying out loads of software in an attempt to get something, quickly, that works for me.)

Muting tabs: I have tried this just now on Firefox 75.0 on Windows and Firefox 75.0 on Linux. It worked on Linux. It did not work on Windows.

Does this work? The sound may be too brief in LeapChat for the speaker icon to show up long enough: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mute-sound-firefox-tabs .

Short answer: no; the tab lacks the icon.

Here is the longer version (which spells things out). There are two methods one might try to use in order to mute a tab, namely (1) right click the tab and click 'mute', and (2) find the sound icon on the tab, and click that icon. As I said, 1 works on Firefox on Linux but not on Firefox on Windows. 2 does not work - does not even get started - on Firefox on either operating system because the leapChat tab does not show a sound icon in the first place.
