LaTeX: Set default \journal in class doc and jou

I'm assuming this enhancement is for adding journal name, and also, year, volume etc? I'm trying to do this right now to make a pre-print of a published manuscript in jou mode. Adding journal : "name of journal" to the yaml doesn't work. If I find a solution to this, I'll post here again.

Correct, this is not implemented as a YAML parameter, yet. You can, however, add LaTeX code to the preamble to do this:

header-includes:
  - \journal{Journal of Foobar}
