PKC does not work without Internet connection?
Hey,
at them moment I do not have an internet connection at home, but I do have a LAN with a plex media server and clients.
The official plex app works on mobile phone and tablet without a hassle, but kodi with PKC on rasPi 3 B+ did stop working and complains about not finding any plex server.
Manual Search for plex server also does not find any matches, nor manual inputting the local IP from PMS.
Is it inteded for PKC to not work when offline? I was thinking that maybe PKC tries to verify the account on plex.tv and is therefore not working without internet connection?
Thanks a lot.
This is definitely a corner case and should not be prioritised as most people who use PKC have an internet connection. If you still don't have any internet connection and want to use PKC with Kodi, try to setup direct paths
Add-on Paths need access to plex.direct in order to work correctly, unfortunately.
You could use PKC Direct Paths, that should work.
Alright, thanks. I know nearly everyone has permanent internet connection, I was just wondering because the official clients are working without internet and PKC did not.
Bit now it‘s clear, I will setup direct paths.
I'm having the same issue and direct paths does not work. Sometimes you can get something to play, but it's very unstable.
I get why this is low priority, but sometimes your internet provider goes down or you move and have to wait. I don't care if most functionality is down during that time. In fact what would probably be best is to simply disable PKC completely (but without having to go through a whole uninstall and reinstall process).
Hey :)
Last night I was in the exact same case. Internet down. Kodi 19.3 with PKC on Chromecast with Google TV and Direct Paths setup to Windows 10 PC. I wasn't able to play anything from PMS. Very unstable and constantly spinning circle of death on different places. Just wondering if there is anything we can do additionally to get this working as it seems Direct Paths are not enough?
Edit: I managed to make it work but with the cost of complete database reset and pkc settings reset (in order to forget that it is logged in plex.tv). It's hacky as it doesn't report anything to Plex in this case. I have a few Plex Home users and maybe it's because PKC is not logged in with any of them.
Thanks for this awesome peace of software.
Sorry to bring such an old issue up. But is the situation still the same in 2023 that the configuration needs changing from Add-On Paths to Direct Paths?
There was a major issue with a large UK ISP yesterday which resulted in several outages of Internet connectivity ranging from a few minutes to hours. In this time my PKC wouldn't function despite PMS running local.
