.strm files problems with Kodi Matrix not with Leia
Great addon 👍🏻 if i can fix one thing this is the best addon there is (for me).
I also use .strm files. Cannot be played by PLEX, but can by Kodi.
I installed PKC on Kodi matrix with the default settings. All was working accept playing .strm files. They just give errors. When I change PKC settings for sync not use addon, but direct path. Also set play settings to use direct path. All working and playing. BUT, with .strm files the subtitles stops after first 1 or 2 lines of text. And also not tracked the watch state with PLEX, also not after playing the file completely.
I installed PKC on a other device that is loaded with Kodi Leia. And behold!!!! All is working!!! I can even resume a .strm file where if left watching on Kodi Matrix. Wonderful!!!!
so, no I wonder…… why is old Kodi better than new Kodi? 🤔 but better I can fix this 😅
Kodi matrix with the problems is on the same machine as PLEX. Can that be a problem? Or is it a problem between matrix and Leia or a problem in addon versions? I also tried downgrading to the lowest version, but nothing changed.
At every chacge I did a Kodi reset (without resetting settings).
someone know what can be the problem? I think it have to do with PLEX be on the same machine. Only way to know for sure is installing a extra PLEX on another device ☺️
Installed PLEX on another device. And yes, all is working on Kodi matrix! So, I really don’t want to move all my stuff to the new PLEX because it is a low performance machine.

Very important:
- Plex Media Server or another Plex Player on the same machine is irrelevant
- Direct Paths need to be configured correctly, otherwise PlexKodiConnect won't work as expected. If you switch between direct paths and addon paths, you need to reset PlexKodiConnect (without resetting the PKC settings). See https://github.com/croneter/PlexKodiConnect/wiki/Set-up-Direct-Paths

this is with: direct path in sync settings
it is playing; but is not tracked by plex and subtitles stopping acyer few seconds.

Strange. On a old Kodi 18 box all is working fine. Sync settings are on “addon” and in path settings only the first “unc” box is enabled. No paths changed, just install run and it works.
exact the same settings on Kodi 19 and it is not working.
To be clear….. strm files are playing, it the plays are not tracked by PLEX
Your solution: I need to pick option 2 because multiple movie/show locations. When I see all that work I need to do, I’m thinking of dropping PLEX all together 😅 why should I change a lot of stuff for something that is working on another Kodi?
when I connect Kodi 19 to a complete different PLEX server I have no problems.

done that. also removed addon and reinstall. all at default setting. Still not working. when i do the same on kodi 18 i have no problems.
could it be another Addon is screwing things up? I remember something about settings fot external player in some addon or at some kodi settings.
I also did a new install of Kodi 20 and Kodi 19.1 same machine as PLEX and still the same problems with .strm files.
You are sure it is not a conflict because PLEX and kodi are on the same machine? When installing kodi on a raspberry or laptop or libreelec kodi box I have no problems at all. No need to edit settings. Install, follow instructions and BEM!!! All is working.
so, I’m really sorry, but i need to drop your addon ;-( and maybe I will drop PLEX and kodi altogether.
To bad, we are in 2023 and there is still no perfect media center? Or it won’t support strm files, or it got no chromecast casting option, or no in app downloads and so on :-(

They are not! Did this 10 times and nothing changes. Did even a fake/wrong path settings with non existing smb: shares and got the same problem.
To be clear! I can get strm files playing……. but the plays are not tracked by PLEX and subtitle (settings) are not used. I need to select in kodi a subtite before i see one. Else it shows subtitles 1 or 2 lines after kodi stops showing subs.
