Invalid GitHub Credentials

Open hoangtranwork opened this issue 13 years ago • 4 comments

I'm on VS2010, Windows XP, here's the steps:

  • Select some text
  • Choose Tool/Create Gist
  • Enter Username/Password, click OK

Actual Result:

  • The status bar show error: Gist not created. Invalid GitHub Credentials

I have double-checked my gitHub account.

I'll take a look Hoang. It has a pretty naive credential store right now. You can delete the ~/.githubcred file and try again, but it should continue to prompt you. They made some recent changes I believe with accounts. Might have something to do with it. Again, I'll take a look

Were you able to resolve this after deleting the .githubcred file?

Sorry for this late response. Unfortunately I no longer have a WinXP + VS2010, my work computer was re-installed with Windows 7 (Still with VS2010).

Now that I've just re-installed Gister, the first time I ran it (after restarting VS), it show a error dialog saying something like "GisterPackage is not installed correctly" and, arrrr....., I made a mistake not taking the screenshot of it. From that point on, Tool/Gister just do nothing :(

I don't even see the .githubcred file in C:\Users<UserName>. Restarting VS, re-installing Gister doesn't help.

Note that Gister works well on my home machine with Windows 8 + VS2012

I haven't tried Win8+VS12. I do have a VM though and will try today.
