Without having a deeper look it should rely on the return value of ```fileChooser.getFileSelectionMode()```. Which selection mode does your file chooser return?

Runs fine under Linux, too. Created a directory ```/tmp/TextEdit.app``` and pointed the test to it. :/

Okay I see, the issues you mentioned are different. In German and other languages there is the problem that they don't even work if you computer has the German locale,...

Okay I (guess) I see now.. and I agree an annotation is not what needs to be done here. Currently the KeyStroke mapping is done based on the default Locale....

For normal characters it should be that easy! But the problem arises when you want to type e.g. `@` or `{`. I'm not yet deep into it and cannot explain...
