A few options:

• Always append the 4 digit id to nicknames.
• Somehow rework everything to work with double nicknames.

I don't like the first one simply due to it being ugly, the second option isn't very attractive either.

So I'll need to think about it.

Just my humble opinion: the first solution (concat of nickname and four digits) is simple, avoids confusion, and is still very readable. I actually wished that the four digit code was displayed in Discord itself when using the compact layout (which hides profile pictures, the only way to distinguish users in such case).
