World Map shown does not match world played on

Open icecube556 opened this issue 11 years ago • 8 comments

The world displayed by AMIDST does not match the world that my friends and I play on. I selected the level.dat file in the world folder, and the coordinates that appear on the map, do not match with the location of my player on the world. I will be in a prairie biome, and it will say that the area is a jungle biome. It says the seeds are matching perfectly and i have even manually typed in the seeds but it just displays another world that i do not play on. Is there any fix to this as I am searching for a mesa biome.

*The world types are both set to default so that is not the issue.

What version of Minecraft are you running AMIDST against? What versions was your world generated in? (Note that this latter can be different from the version of Minecraft the world is currently run in.)

The world was generated in 1.7.4, and I am using Amidst v3.6. Yesterday i got the seed and it was a correct map one time, then the seed seems to have changed and now the map still does not match the world.

I know this is old but I'm experiencing this as well and have something that might be a clue.

I have a 1.8 map that was generated in 1.8 and it does not match what is shown in AMIDST. However, the curious thing is that my map is an Amplified world type. If I generate with the same seed as a regular world, AMIDST does match. It would seem that the world type is not account for -- at least with Amplified.

I just generated an "amplified" world in Minecraft 1.8.7 for seed 1, and then a "default" world also using seed 1. In both cases the biome map appeared to be the same in the game.

Generating amplified and default worlds in AMIDST also generated the same map both times (and it matched Minecraft).

Did you cut/paste with a space character on the end of the seed one of the times you tried it? Or typed in the seed wrong? I suspect there's been a mistake, but if the seed really is generating a different biome map in amplified vs default then could you give the seed and describe what the map is supposed to look like?

I was not typing the seed -- merely opening the level.dat file. In any case, I was planning to take screenshots and post them but in looking further, I think the differences (if any) may be more subtle. Will post another update when I have more time to examine my confusion :)

This fork of the project hasn't been updated for 6 years.

The currently maintained version of Amidst is here, you're more likely to have luck with that version / leaving comments there.

I HAVE the latest version. I think my level.dat may be formatted differently thought because some websites can't understand it right either.
