Would love to see this included, am having a problem adding a button to close a toast message because of this.

Yeah this make the component more manageable and customizable, hope the owner accepts it soon as possible, in a while I am forking the project and using directly on my project, you can do it too.

I would much prefer to separate the functionality and formatting into different PRs. Regarding formatting: when introducing prettier to the project, it would be nice to also add a .prettierc to repository, otherwise it's not clear which setting are used for formatting.
