Text added to asset link?

Description

More of a question than a bug, what is the "#asset:911:url" added to the end of asset urls? My client is curious / concerned regardless of how many times I assure them it is benign. But the more I wonder I the more I am curious myself, can this just be removed by clients? My best guess is it is some sort of intelligent tracking system to link content.
