Improve import of external Calendars

Open clochix opened this issue 8 years ago • 5 comments

For now, we can import external calendars by creating a Konnector.

Cyril suggests we could improve the process:

  • make the feature more discoverable (a link to Konnectors or an explanation in the Sync popup?)
  • allow to rename the imported calendar;
  • add support for CalDAV.

Also one way to quickly improve the experience in Konnector would be to use a dropdown list of existing calendars. Currently we need to rewrite the calendar name.

An other help would be to prevent writing on any imported calendar. Since there is no "default" calendar I keep creating events on the wrong one. Good that I only ave two click to change the event from one calendar to an other but...

Support for import through CalDAV would be really useful (to import Owncloud-hosted calendars for example). A really useful feature would be to have two-way syncing (read and write remote calendar using CalDAV), but I think this would require a lot of new code, and is actually not even doable with the current konnectors.

@jsilvestre, @poupotte maybe should we split this issue into some cards:

  • make this konnector discoverable from calendar, by adding a link to the Parameter screen (by the way, we could also rename Parameters to Sync?)
  • allow to import from CalDAV. Don't know where to put this one: calendar, sync, konnectors?

Hi,

We could do that, but since we won't be working on Calendar anytime soon I'm afraid this won't be done, if nobody else takes care of it :-/
