How does windows know where firefox/brave/chrome is located?

Shouldn't the hkey local root http and https also be changed?

For the first part of your question, I dont think windows needs to know where it is located bc its just a file association, so each app has a signed value to that registry. Im not sure whether it should be http or https. Ill ask around.
