CotEditor often hangs whilst trying to open "Save" dialog
Description
My work MacBook has file(s) stored on Microsoft OneDrive.
I've noticed that often when I try to save newly created file(s), CotEditor hangs when trying to open the Save dialog - all I get is the spinning beach ball from MacOS.
I'm not sure how to diagose or debug where it is stalling.

@jamesrtnz Thank you for the report.
Although I haven’t yet been able to reproduce this issue, I’m suspecting that it’s specifically related to macOS 15.5, which was released on May 12th, because I’ve encountered similar issues with other apps (e.g. Preview) in my environment after updating to macOS 15.5, and I’ve also received multiple issue reports related to file reading and writing in CotEditor after the release of macOS 15.5.
Therefore, I’d like to know the following information:
- Do you have a feeling that this issue first appeared after updating your Mac to macOS 15.5?
- Have you noticed similar issues with other apps on your Mac?
- This has been a problem for a while before macOS 15.5; but I couldn't tell you exactly when I started noticing it
- Not specifically, no.
If it helps, I've got the OneDrive "Backup" settings enabled; so my Desktop and Documents folders live in OneDrive, and my ${HOME}/Desktop and ${HOME}/Documents are symlinks pointing to the OneDrive version.
@jamesrtnz Thanks for your quick reply. It's helpful. The OneDrive thing appears suspicious, so I’ll look into it further.
@jamesrtnz Sorry for taking time. I've been trying various things locally, but I couldn't reproduce the issue in my environment and couldn't find any clues.
In the meantime, macOS 26 was released, and CotEditor now uses an SDK based on macOS 26. So, I’d like to know if this issue still occurs in the latest environment.
To be honest, I've not noticed it happening for a while; it's entirely possible it was a OneDrive issue as much as CotEditor. Given both packages are updated and a new OS version is out, I'm going to close this and will reopen if it starts occurring on a repeatable basis in the future.
@jamesrtnz Thank you for the response and update. If you face any issue in the future, please don't hesitate to report again.
