Looking for new maintainers for Dutch, French, and Spanish localizations
We are now looking for new maintainers for the existing localizations below since the original maintainers could no longer continue maintenance:
- [ ] Dutch
- [ ] French (France)
- [ ] Spanish (Spain)
Since most parts have already been localized, the new maintainers will check unreviewed strings once and localize future updates. Please feel free to leave a comment if you are interested in maintaining CotEditor's localization.
To see how the CotEditor project maintains localizations, read through the Localizations section of the documentation below: https://github.com/coteditor/CotEditor/blob/main/CONTRIBUTING.md#localizations
Hello @1024jp
I am interested to review the Spanish translation.
Hi @stonkol, thank you for your contribution!
If you’re already familiar with Xcode projects and the Git system, please work directly with the head of the main branch and submit a pull request. For if you’re not familiar with these concepts, I’ve created a Spanish localization file that you can focus on localization in Xcode. Please work with the file and post your changes in this thread. The localization file includes all the localization data, but strings that require native review have “NEEDS REVIEW” tags in the State column. So, find strings with those tags, review them, and make any necessary edits or change the State to a check mark if they don’t require change.
As I mentioned in the original post the Localizations section in CONTRIBUTING.md may guide you.

@stonkol Oops, I've forgot to attach the localization file. This is it. es.xcloc.zip
Ok, thanks, I'm familiar with Xcode projects and the Git. I will make a PR.
@stonkol While reviewing your PR, I’d like to ask if you’d be interested in becoming the maintainer of the Spanish localization. The standard maintenance process is also outlined in CONTRIBUTING.md. If you’re interested, I'll call you from next time when CotEditor requires localization updates.
Yes, I can become the maintainer for the Spanish localization.
@stonkol Great! Thank you for the contribution. I’ve already credited you as the new maintainer in CotEditor 5.1.7, released today. I’ll call you from the next time when the localizations require update.
Thank you, @1024jp, for the credits. Ok, I will help as far as I can for the future updates.
I reopen the call for Spanish localization maintainer.
