This is extremely helpful and thank you @rigzba21. Definitely plans to implement longer term but I do not see it on the short term roadmap.

@pavithraes I worked to compress the image from .gif to .webp which reduced the size to around 25MB uncompressed. Does this issue still need to be open?

This still appears to be an issue for mamba during the package download phase.
This is resolved in #417 where we now explicitely download/extract packages using conda internals
