Is this the best version of WP-Sync-DB out there?
I tried using the original WP-Sync-DB about a year ago and ran into some errors. After no responses and it being clear that no one was mantaining the project, went back to doing things the old fashioned way using the Duplicator plugin.
I then today found a project maintained by the WP co-op studio Outlandish and saw that they had a version of it that had been recently updated. The most recent update being a pull request that you commented on and included your zip file. So I'm curious if your version is the most advanced or up to date fork out there? I don't know how you'd even know, Github doesn't make it very easy to track advanced forks but I thought I'd ask.
Specifically I'm hoping it helps with this issue: https://github.com/wp-sync-db/wp-sync-db/issues/160
Just wanted to confirm that this indeed is the best branch out there. Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Agree with @jcklpe that this looks like the most-recently-maintained version of WP-Sync-DB I could find.
Thanks Cory Simmons!
I tried this version on several sites and I think it is the best and most updated. I just added a translation and I will try to contribute to the maintenance of the project.
@lucionegrello Excellent!
Also I think Cory doesn't really want to have the responsibility (understandably) of maintaining this branch so if you decide to fork it with your changes let me know and I'll follow that one, and set up some comments on some of the other commonly discussed branches so that other people can know which branch is being more actively developed etc.
FYI - I have forked it to merge the existing PRs, but it needs a bunch of work (mostly testing) before it is ready for release: https://github.com/cloudverve/wp-sync-db/
@dmhendricks does it have the same level of functionality as this branch? I'd like to check out yours if it's being actively maintained and stuff but I also don't want to have to fiddle with stuff too much. Sleeping dogs lie, etc
@jcklpe I merged the changes from this branch (in addition to most of the PRs from S. Lang's repo), but as far as being actively maintained, it is still new, so no history.
@dmhendricks Cool I'll give it a try with this next mini project I'm fixing to do. Thanks!
Hi all, looks like this is the second dead fork, my organization will probably fork it again and maintain a version of it as best we can. Been there 5 years, multiple coders, it's probably safe.
Anyone excited or have you found other solutions?
@anormore If your org decides to support this, let me know and I'll update my comments elsewhere so that people know where to go.
For what it's worth, checking back in, it looks like the most recently maintained fork is this one by dmhendricks
