I recently bought a nicely working cert from namecheap.com for 2-3$ together with a domain. Recommend. :-)

It's impossible to view the site now, because browsers are blocking it. There are several free options for SSL certs now, including letsencrypt by Mozilla or the free SSL that comes with CloudFlare DNS.

letsencrypt isn't by Mozilla.

They were one of the original founders, along with the EFF. Check Wikipedia if you don't believe me. Anyway, the point is SSL certs are available for free.

ISRG are the owners and founders, the Mozilla foundation is just a organisation that sponsors them and like you said the point stands there is free SSL options. I have a feeling this is less to do with price and more to do with them allowing this site to slowly die.

The last commit was in 2014 so I doubt there's going to be anything happening to this any time soon. :disappointed:
