With the included font actually everything is ok and seems to be the same in other editors. The real issue is the shape (compare pdf) and the rectangle in photopea....

Regarding pdf and editable file formats: The issue with the rectangle shape is the same whether photopea opens the .pdf or the .ai file which I got from a collegue....

The last zip file contains the ai file for you to test the mask. I now think the mask has actually a rastered image as content, just in the pdf...
