Release a version without any controversial ligatures
As pointed out here, a proper ligature is a glyph that, to the untrained eye, is invisible, like fi and fl in many fonts.
Please, can Julia Mono have a version released where there are no ligatures outside the narrow definition (of which a monospace font likely has none)? Even replacing -> by → is not what all people want at all times. I don’t think it’s a maintenance nightmare to have a version that has none of those and release them together with the other TTF? I don’t think it matters much for webfonts, as disabling calts is easy with CSS.
You successfully argue against ligatures in monospace fonts, then add them. Don’t. Just don’t. Julia Mono is such a nice font, and that ruins it for me.
