FCOS docs discoverability: add metadata to pages

Open JaimeMagiera opened this issue 4 years ago • 3 comments

As discussed during the meeting of 2021-03-31, lack of metadata and search functionality has hindered documentation usage, and complicated design and placement decisions.

Moving forward, it would be helpful to incorporate search into the site (e.g. Google) and incorporate metadata into each page that accurately reflects the topics therein.

at least the search part of this seems to be taken care of now with https://pagure.io/fedora-docs/docs-fp-o/c/4b7021833da64fd651feffeaf6de1401a89531b0?branch=prod

I see a search box in the top right. It's not google search, but we got it for free!

@JaimeMagiera - do we want to leave this open for the metadata bits?

Awesome! Yes, I think we should still add some metadata to pages to potentially improve indexations on search engines.

Neat! Though it seems to be crawling all of docs.fp.o instead of just the FCOS docs pages, which isn't ideal.
