display manager

Open qobi opened this issue 10 years ago • 1 comments

I'd like to run a display manager (like xdm) so that I can login as a user and have it run my .xsession to set up my desktop the way I like (just like on other GNULinux machines that I use). I'm old fashioned. I don't run kde, gnome, xfce, or any other modern environment. I run twm. I'd like to keep with that. I have xdm and twm installed. But when I run xdm -nodaemon as root, the display manager doesn't come up. Is there a better way to do this?

try to connect via vncserver than run command from the vnc server to open display
