yum fails on Fedora

Here's what I get

Error: Cannot retrieve metalink for repository: fedora. Please verify its path and try again

I can confirm I see this issue. I tried the first answer here: http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/140495/cannot-retrieve-metalink-for-repository-fedora-20-i386 and it seems to work. Specifically I changed from https to http in my /etc/yum.repos.d/* files. I think once the ca-certificates are up to date the change can be undone. I need to make a more up to date fedora rootfs, so this will not be a problem for new users.

20150501-Fri0945 I just installed GNUroot and the Fedora image and experienced this issue.

Just installed Fedora in GNURoot - still the same issue.
