`pytorch-lightning` integration

Open klamike opened this issue 4 months ago • 3 comments

Hi there, thanks for the great package! I am wondering if maintainers would be interested in an integration with pytorch-lightning? Happy to help open a PR on this if it is welcome.

Enhancement

Provide an official way to use pytorch-lightning with Cooper.

Motivation

Make it easier to use Cooper, especially for folks with existing Lightning code.

Alternatives

Maybe a tutorial for how to do it manually? It's not too painful to get it working using manual optimization..

References

N/A

Hi @klamike,

Thank you so much for reaching out and for the kind words about Cooper! We're definitely interested in an integration with PyTorch Lightning.

I agree that starting with a short tutorial would be the best first step. It would help us understand the common patterns and pain points users encounter when combining the two libraries.

Once we have that foundation, we can explore a more built-in integration, potentially through a callback or another design that feels native to both Cooper and Lightning.

If you're up for it, opening a PR with a tutorial would be a great! You can also join the Discord server to further discuss some of the details.

Thanks for your interest in the project @klamike. Indeed a PT Lightning integration would be quite useful for improving adoption of Cooper. The steps laid out by @merajhashemi sound good to me.
