Block Author Query feature not working

I have set the Block Author Query setting to the "On" option, but I can still reveal the author username by visiting the domain URL with the author query string. Isn't the plugin supposed to block that? I've asked about this in the plugin forum, but thought that I should take this part of the thread over to here.
