US vs UK imperial gallon?

Seems like 'gal' is currently defined as the US gallon, as opposed to the actual imperial gallon (4.54609 liters). Should there be a separate gal-uk and/or gal-us ?

At this time, I don't want to change the current names of any of the units because it would interfere with some of the users' projects. However, with the ability too add in additional units in the beta version, folks have the ability to modify, extend, and add their own units. Therefore, as of right now, my recommendation is to add gal-uk unit to the desired measure by extending the definition object.
