unable to select emoji in Quilljs text area after added

I click on the Emoji icon in the Quill toolbar it is added to the text area in Quilljs form. The issue is im unable to select the emoji for copy and paste multiple time.

If I paste in an emoji from another source it am able to select and copy and paste.

I expect to be able to select and copy paste any Emoji added with this quill-emoji plugin.
