UX/UI design of "/extend" page on site
Design refresh for /extend page on the website
We would like the /extend page to have a better look and feel like the main landing page. The epic will have the UX design exploration tickets. A followup epic will be created for the design implementation
UX Description
From the UX call following requirements were brought up:
- There should be side panel on this page like how we have for Documents page so the important links are neatly arranged (This can be achieved Docusaurus)
- The extend page should promote the idea that Podman Desktop is extendable and advertise the catalog. It should also suggest that more info on extension can be found using other documentation/tutorial listed on the side panel
- There should be a way to advertise Extension on the main page of the website, may be rotating list/last 4 updated/top4 extensions
Also some other discussions can be found below related to the new extension page design See comments here:
- https://github.com/podman-desktop/podman-desktop-catalog/issues/241#issuecomment-2701907677 and
- https://github.com/podman-desktop/podman-desktop/pull/11673#issuecomment-2733422616
For the extend page we have some new components / UX designs to add, in particular:
-
Where to put the "last 4 updated extensions", which is located here: https://podman-desktop.io/extensions , we have added functionality to list the last 4 extensions by querying the endpoint. This part can't be modified in terms of CSS / styling
-
Comment from @rujutashinde with regards to the first section / "list of links" of
Extension documentation and resourcesand what we can do to improve it.
