It's not clear to me if this is related to any limitations in libkrun.

No, there's no limitation, it's simply that we have a couple of use cases on aarch64 (krunkit and muvm) but none on x86_64. Do you have one on that arch?

I'm interested in using muvm to run locally isolated desktop applications on x86, à la qubes-lite
