This issue is known and should be fixed in the next release. I will advance it, and try to make it ready in the end of the week.

@tmeuze, if you have time can you test if the latest version has this feature? Disabling pdf generation is as simple as `SKIP_PDF=1 mkdocs serve`. Thanks for your feedback
