Problem:

When you want to submit a statement on pol.is you need to connect an identity with Facebook or Twitter. However, it is quite easy to create fake accounts on those social media. If a high enough number of fake accounts add statements the quality of the conversation is lowered and the results are compromised.

Suggested solution:

Our team works on zero-knowledge technologies and we have some projects that seek to prevent Sybil attacks. The main idea is to get a reliable measure of users' reputation (e.g. from social networks) so that they can then prove that they has that reputation without revealing their identity. This is the goal of Interep for example, which is still under development but the first version will be launched soon. We also have other interesting projects that can help (e.g. TLSNotary). We are open to collaborate and help out if needed.
