Tool that generates a big page with all screens in all languages

Open nicolas-raoul opened this issue 7 years ago • 5 comments

Sometimes a screen looks totally wrong in a particular language, and we don't know about it before a user is kind enough to tell us instead of giving a 1-star review.

The Wikipedia iOS app is apparently using this: https://i.imgur.com/AowFwBI.gifv

It would be great if we had the same :-)

A free third-party service compatible with Git would probably be the easiest, if that exists.

This tool looks promising. https://github.com/thyrlian/ScreenshotsNanny

It should be possible to tweak it for taking screenshots in all languages.

Interesting! I do think automating this (via the ScreenshotsNanny tool) would be easier than requesting users to do it.

@nicolas-raoul Can you please describe little more detailed about this feature and context? Is it something related to stitching screenshot images?

@maskaravivek I looked at the link you posted. Is there any way to loop through all the available activities, and all the available languages? The tutorial given has manually done it for some activities. That's a little tedious in our case. I was unable to find a suitable method so far.

My teams do a lot of automated testing across a whole host of different phones. A tool we have used is Spoon as it distributes the tests to all connected devices and as part of the run takes screenshots. Your code can also trigger screenshots in code where needed.

Spoon is designed to run either standalone or as part of your CI pipeline so there might be an opportunity to write a test in androidTest to be run using Spoon and have that integrate with Travis. At worst, you could try running it locally.
