Messages in chats don't load until something sent after initial sync

Describe the bug After logging in, every chat has nothing in it until something happens in it after the sync. This has to happen for each individual chat.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Fresh install
2. Log in
3. Open any room (might be specific to encrypted ones?)
4. See a complete lack of messages and feel lonely 5‎‎. Send something
5. See messages start loading

Expected behavior Load a few messages in advance
