Proposal: Mark Monday, December 30, 2024, as a Holiday in Japan

In Japan, Monday, December 30, 2024, was treated as a holiday in many places.

  • Government offices were closed, in accordance with the "Act on Holidays of Administrative Organs" (https://laws.e-gov.go.jp/law/363AC0000000091). (Related: #509)
  • Schools were on winter vacation and therefore closed.
  • Many companies followed suit, taking the same day off as government offices.

Hence, I believe we should designate it as a holiday. May I have your opinion on this?

Based on a quick search, banks in Japan were indeed open on December 30, 2024, which would typically exclude it from being a public or bank holiday.

Also, speaking from my experience in Japan, it's not uncommon for December 30th to be a regular working day depending on the year and company, so classifying it generally might need careful consideration.
