Organized Screw Storage – Next Steps
I have cleaned up and organized the screw storage area. All screws have been sorted, reviewed, and categorized into wood screws, metal screws, and nails. Proper storage containers have been set up.
Currently, there are M10 screws and nuts left on the table. We need to decide whether to keep them or discard them entirely.
Additionally, the Sortimo boxes where I have sorted all the new/unsorted screws still need inlay boxes to properly arrange both the existing and new screws. These boxes should either be 3D printed or ordered.
Other than these two points, the area is now neat and fully organized.
Tasks:
- [ ] Decide whether to keep or discard the M10 screws and nuts
- [ ] Order or 3D print missing dividers for the Sortimo boxes
Have any new screw types been sorted into the sortimo boxes? If so, which ones?
Oh dear – no idea, there were a lot! Allen screws, stainless steel, hex bolts, washers… all in different lengths and sizes. I didn’t do a proper inventory.
There were also plenty of screw packs and boxes scattered across the drawers, which I sorted as well. Lots of small bags, boxes… all over the cabinet.
That´s too bad. My understanding was that this was the reason why we kept the new screws in the common room initially.
Creating a proper Inventory might be a valuable task for the next do-something day. I could image the result being a table as follows:
| Type | Diameter | Length | Head | Drive | Location | Standardized label |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood / Metal | Countersunk/ non-countersunk | PZ, TX, etc. | Sortimo Box or somewhere else? | yes/no |
Standardized Label would only be a "yes", if there is a label which was printed "officially" by Johannes / Patrick. The main message would be: Only screws with standardized labels will be restocked!
