[FEATURE]: Implement TLCI / TLMF calculation

Open JarrettR opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Description

TLCI-2012 is a similar measurement to CRI, with different swatches and an expanded algorithm. TLMF-2013 is an additional algorithm that matches luminaire, given camera data. This one may be harder, as the user would need to supply this data.

The brief is here: https://tech.ebu.ch/tlci-2012

The software zip has a little bit of information, which expanded, along with all of the math, in the tech brief here:

Hi @JarrettR,

Thank you! I never heard about this metric, do you know if its usage is widespread? The most common ones being CRI, CFI/TM-30-18 and SSI.

Cheers,

Thomas

I've seen it becoming more popular in recent years - Enough that the latest firmware update for the Sekonic C-7000 added it, along with TM-30 and SSI. I've attached an export CSV as an example.

Specifically in film, people are starting to notice it. Skypanel S60 lists CRI and TLCI: https://www.arri.com/en/lighting/led/skypanel/s60-c#F0.000S60C Astera Titan lists CRI and TLCI: https://astera-led.com/titan/ Creamsource Vortex8 lists CRI, TLCI, and CQS: https://creamsource.com/wp-content/downloads/brochures/CS-vortex8-cutsheet-14072020.pdf

I second JarrettR. It is definitely becoming popular. We see it requested for entertainment lighting used in productions that are being recorded as well as TV studios.
