Hooray! Removing the `no_root_squash` option fixed things! Now files get mounted with owner/group `nobody/nobody`, but that's resolved easy enough with `chown -R root:root .`... workable, at least! :smile: I will...

Thanks for the report! Do you have an example file that causes the crash that you would be able to share?
Per [this discussion](http://www.k2e.com/tech-update/tips/155-protecting-specific-cells-in-an-excel-worksheet), it looks like some work may need to be done on the workbook / sheet before the "protection" takes effect. [This issue](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/14701322/apache-poi-how-to-protect-sheet-with-options) has more on the how.
