Privy out of the box is a great idea.

Have you had a chance to use it? And if so, what trade-offs does it have for the users or the developers?

Privy out of the box allows to create embedded wallets that don't require external wallets. It's almost a must-have when you are creating progressive web apps because external wallets create a really janky experience.
