Visual Editor: Unpublished pages, 404s and editability

If a you are using the visual editor, when you view the live version of a page that does not have a published version a 404 is displayed. That's how it should work, but the question is should I still be able to see information about the draft? At the moment the 404 will display as a static page but we could amend the page router to bring back more information.

However, the 404 could be content managed so maybe that could be confusing? How do we content manage those anyway?
